Your New Accounting Periods Page is Here! 🙌

âś… Availability: February 7, 2024

👉 Included in Pro Offer

When you explore your accounting settings (Settings > Accounting) on Springly, you'll notice your accounting periods page has received a much-needed makeover.

Here's everything you need to know!

The Issue So Far

Besides needing a design refresh, the page lacked enough information to guide you effectively.

storage?id=4110116&type=picture&secret=QwFdCLDfBqi8lkW8yCniYDzhPFEPfuEPCF3txyGT&timestamp=1707318242

Result: There was a lot of confusion between open/current/closing periods. A clarification was needed.

What's Changed

More information and visual elements to help you understand your accounting period status better.

The page is divided into two sections.

Open Periods

These are periods not yet closed.

A period can be:

  • Finished if today's date is after the end of the period
  • Ongoing if today's date falls within the period
  • Future if today's date is before the period's start

You can delete the most advanced accounting period in time if it has no associated accounting entries.

Accounting period dates can be changed as long as the period isn't closed. Regarding dates, two updates:

  • An alert if your accounting period doesn't last a year as required by law (except for the first period), preventing mistakes.
  • An information and confirmation message when changing period dates, affecting adjacent periods.

Easily add an accounting period with the dedicated button at the top right. A sidebar opens for specification.

For each open period, the closure status is visible:

  • Unclosed Period: when the period is ongoing or upcoming,
  • ⚠️ Late Closing: if the period is finished but not yet closed. Click the closure button to start directly!
  • 🔄 Ongoing Closing: if you've initiated the closure of a finished period.

Closed Periods

For these, it's straightforward: quickly find the period dates and the accounting closure date - previously unavailable.

If needed, you can click the closure cancellation button to directly access the correct page.

In short: less confusion and more clarity with a redesigned layout!

The page location remains unchanged: accessible from Settings > Accounting → Accounting Periods. I invite you to explore it yourself!
